Featured image for Traffic Analytics API response changes ❗

We are going to change the structure of the Traffic Analytics API response.

In particular, the array “estimated” will be affected by the upcoming changes for the endpoints listed below:

Currently we provide the following array:

"estimated": {
  "2020-06-01": 14989850,
  "2020-07-01": 15028855,
  "2020-08-01": 15896303,
  "2020-09-01": 15796909,
  "2020-10-01": 15205226,
  "2020-11-01": 15214208

From a programmatic point of view, it makes sense to separate the provided date and its value. That’s why we are going to change it to the following format:

"estimated": [
    "date": "2020-06-01",
    "value": 14989850
    "date": "2020-07-01",
    "value": 15028855
    "date": "2020-08-01",
    "value": 15896303
    "date": "2020-09-01",
    "value": 15796909
    "date": "2020-10-01",
    "value": 15205226
    "date": "2020-11-01",
    "value": 15214208

The changes will simplify processing this data from your end and make integration slightly easier.

  1. The format of the data won’t be changed in the production until February.

  2. You can test the new format and start receiving it right now by adding the following parameter to the POST array:
    "new_estimated": true

  3. The response will be completely changed on February 1, 2021.

Make sure your code will handle the upcoming changes. If you use the data in this array, you do need to customize your script a bit.

You can apply the changes in your script right now, adding the parameter to the POST array and simply remove it after February 1, 2021.
